Subsequently, she penned the two chapters that serve as the framework, "The Family" and "The Professor." The author Cather became well-known for her work that focused on the frontier and pioneering experience. Her body of work often reflects themes such as melancholy and exile. In Cather's writing, a feeling of place is an essential component. For Cather, the physical landscapes and home spaces she creates serve as dynamic presences against which her characters battle and find community.
