An English author, mathematician, logician, Anglican clergyman, and photographer, he was a man with diverse interests. Noted for his facility at word play, logic, and fantasy, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass are his most famous writings. His wonderful ability in the genre of literary nonsense is displayed in his poem The Hunting of the Snark.
