**Katherin Nolte *is the author of Back to the Bright Before and The Wonderful Wishes of B *. Growing up, her home was filled with animals, including eight cats, five dogs, two guinea pigs, a cluster of hermit crabs, a mouse, a chinchilla, and one grumpy dwarf rabbit. She received an MFA from the Iowa Writers' Workshop, where she was a Truman Capote Fellow. An Ohio native, she now lives with her husband and four children in Iowa.
