**Joseph Sharples *studied Fine Art at the University of Edinburgh and Edinburgh College of Art. His first job was with the Victorian Society in Manchester, followed by eleven years as curator at the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool. He is author of the Liverpool city volume in the Pevsner Architectural Guides series and has held research posts at the University of Liverpool on the architectural patronage of the city's nineteenth-century merchants. He has worked most recently at Glasgow University as lead researcher on the architecture of Charles Rennie Mackintosh.David W. Walkertook his degrees at the University of St Andrews, writing his doctoral thesis on Peddie & Kinnear. He worked for the Architectural Heritage Society of Scotland and the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland before moving to the University of Warwick in 2005 to study the life and work of Sir Basil Spence. He is co-author of Aberdeenshire: North and Moray in this series.Matthew Woodworthis a specialist in medieval architecture. He received his M.A. from the Courtauld Institute, London and his PhD from Duke University, U.S.A, where he now teaches. He is co-author of Aberdeenshire: North and Moray * in this series.
