Converted to Christianity he returned to Norway intent on uniting it into a single Kingdom, which he succeeded in doing by 1016.He is credited with the Christianization of Norway, though this was not completed until after his deathHe was defeated by internal enemies at Helgea in 1026, exiled in 1029 as Cnut invaded, then killed in battle by Cnuts forces when trying to return.He was posthumously dubbed Norways Perpetual King and canonized
