When some of Ellen's stories are stolen and submitted to a prestigious national writing competition, she unexpectedly advances to the final round. The topic: "Humans and Their Beyond Thoughts."

Ellen's journey takes an unexpected turn when her rival, trying to appear kind, offers her a book from his father's old library. In the dim light of the library, Ellen stumbles upon a dusty, forgotten diary. Intrigued, she begins to read.

The diary is a collection of stories, all suffering from various psychic disorders. Ellen becomes consumed by the tragic lives of these nine people. Will Ellen be able to pull herself back from the brink, or will the darkness that consumed the lives in the diary claim her as well?
